There a few simple things that need to be done for one to have significant fire protection. When in a building always follow the local building fire code, maintain fire exits, make sure fire exit signs are clear and visible. Check all fire alarms periodically, conduct fire drills and maintain high quality of awareness and training for the occupiers and users of the building. Avoiding fire hazards is also a huge a part of fire protection and comes in many different ways, a large variety of them we interact with everyday. The main ones to watch out for are anything electrical as if it gets overloaded the wiring can heat up causing a fire. In fact any equipment that generates sparks, flame or any level of heat should be considered. Candles and smoking should also be used only in designated areas.
